Manchester-born John Richmond is the prodigy behind the Milan-based ready-to-wear fashion house of the same name. After completing his studies at Kingston University in 1982, Richmond immediately began constructing his first collection, while gaining experience at prevalent labels such as Armani, Joseph Tricot and Fiorucci. Working with Italian businessman Saverio Moschillo in 1995 saw Richmond’s reputation for music-inspired apparel and accessories quickly cemented. Equally inspired by the timeless iconography of rock 'n' roll and avant-garde fashion movements, it is hardly surprising pop culture royals like Axl Rose, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Kate Moss and Madonna are established devotees of the label.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, iconic cats-eye frames made famous by Audrey Hepburn, Buddy Holly’s high-temple angular frames, and round styles inspired by John Lennon feature within the collection. John Richmond frames not reminiscent of specific stars, meanwhile, also embrace the ethos of individuality, with several colour variations available to frame the eyes of the world’s next generation of idols.
